My reasons were simple. First it had to be as bullet proof as possible. Nothing worse than a break down. Second the service had to be fast. And three had to be scalable. And forth I do not want clients calling in and talking to a machine even if that means I have to talk to them myself during weird hours. My only problem that I ran into was the actual cost of bandwidth.
Also ran into so many ISP's saying don't lower your prices as that is not the way to do business. Keep your prices at the normal average prices of all other ISP companies out there. And you know what? I am sick of hearing that same spiel. So, I got the prices down to a place where it is both fair and will turn a slight profit. The difference in service is simply that I will never lose sleep over my prices.
I also researched a bunch of other ISP's and found that even when they say they are selling it cheap. Say $10.00 a month typically this is not unlimited even though they advertise it as such. Most of them cap the hours and load your pc down with software making you think that you need that software to get online. Well, I am here to say other wise. You only need a pc with a 56k modem, a phone line, a web site browser, and an operating system with networking support. Sure a low end old machine wont let you see a lot of the content out there on the web without bringing a low end machine to it's knees. You should still be able to chat and email and surf the web even with a low end old as the hills computer.
If you haven't noticed already I am tired of big company ethics. What happened to customer relationships and real quality assurance. Something so simple to do that only requires communication between the company and the customer. Call companies out there and what do you get. Yes the dreaded hold button or worse that irritating elevator music on the line. Who out there agrees with me on this one. I have dealt with customer service for many years yes I manned the phones I took calls no one else would deal with. And with persistence and patience I was always able to get the client calm and back into a working environment as quickly as the customer was comfortable with. It is amazing how many times I have had to say okay okay calm down let's start from the beginning... And yes there are those few that drive you crazy, but that is the whole fun of it.
The rush comes when you help the Grandma that accidentally deleted a shortcut or program from her desktop. Freaking out because she can't find it any longer. And how rewarding it is when you can take the time to show her/him how to find it again or replace it if that dreaded recycle bin had expended it's guts from the hard drive. And how with a bit of kindness that person who was so nervous when she/he started becomes more confident using that new fangled contraption. And sure so many young folks could care less about that. They only want to make the almighty dollar so much so that they have lost touch with the very people they started the business for to begin with.
They use the mentality okay let's give them less and sell it for more. Sure that makes the bottom line look really good. But what does it do for quality of life?
So anyhow back to the story. With all that going on I put this business together researching for two complete years on what is available and what is best with pricing I could be happy with. I have much more than what this site is currently offering in the works and I repeat I started this whole business using funds out of my own pocket knowing that what I am trying to do is the right thing..
So with that I give you Forward Thinking Home Technologies I hope those of you brave enough to try us out find that you never want to leave, and we will always keep upgrading our services to keep up with your demand of what you need and want. That is our guarantee.

P.S. Some of you will remember me from my previous job. And I want to apologize for not being able to forewarn anyone of what was about to happen with the other company. I was broken hearted when the company was sold only because I knew those clients were never going to be treated the same way anymore. And I vowed then and there that as soon as I could, I would start my own company where I could be sure my clients received the service and the tech support they deserved.
